Frequently Asked Questions

What is your Satisfaction Guarantee?

We want you to love your Bourbon Baggers. If you've tried a couple of bags, and have decided they aren't your thing, just email us at info@boozebaggers.com and we will make it right. Return shipping may apply in some cases.

Which one: Charred or Toasted?

Bourbon Baggers is offered with two options because they impart different flavor profiles in the Bourbon.

Charred American Oak is what bourbon barrels are legally required to be aged in. Charred oak develops more notes of vanilla, spice, caramel, and brown sugar flavors. It also tames the taste of the oak itself. If you are looking for a more "mature" or "aged" flavor profile like those found in more expensive older bourbons, this is the selection for you.

Toasted Oak, on the other hand is completely different. Bourbon is not aged in toasted barrels. However, recently many distilleries have been finishing Bourbon in toasted barrels to impart a unique tasting experience. Popular brands doing this are Elijah Craig and Baysil Hayden. Toasted bourbons tend to have a more fruit forward profile and the oak flavoring becomes more pronounced. If you are looking for something different or something for your pricier bourbons, this is the selection for you.

How do I use Bourbon Baggers?

You can see our instructions here. But basically, use it just like a tea bag, but wait a bit longer. It can take up to 10 minutes to fully develop.

Will Bourbon Baggers work in other spirits?

Yes! We don't advertise them that way, but Bourbon Baggers work well in any spirit that is typically aged in an oak barrel. So give them a try in Whiskey, Rye, Scotch, and even Tequila or Rum. Some of our customers even use them in Cabernet!

What is the shelf life or storage needs?

Bourbon Baggers contain 100% shredded and charred (or toasted) American Oak. They should be shelf-stable for years if kept in a cool, dry place. If you are in a particularly humid area of the world (I'm looking at you, New Orleans), we do recommend putting them in a sealed container, ideally with a desiccant moisture absorber. However, if you feel over time that they have spoiled in some way, please reach out to info@boozebaggers.com and let us know. We take pride in taking care of you!

How long does shipping take?

We ship from Dallas, TX using the United States Postal Service. You have the option of selecting Free Ground Advantage or Priority Mail. So, depending on your location and typical mail service to your house, delivery can take from 2-5 days.
